Summary
Purpose & Mission
The Association is a nonprofit organized to support the “preservation and betterment of Camp Sequassen” and to administer charitable programs such as the Chief Bogan Scholarship and Laurel Leaf Campership. The Association is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
Membership
Membership categories include Charter, Full, Associate, and Honorary. Full members (21+) with Sequassen experience may vote and hold office. Associate members (16–20) may vote but do not count toward quorum. Honorary and Charter members are non‑voting unless dues are paid. A quorum is defined as “10% of eligible members in good standing.”
Elections & Governance
The President, two (2) Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer and Ancient Advisor serve as Officers of the Association. Officers serve two‑ or four‑year terms with limits on consecutive service. The Executive Board consists of officers and the Advisory Committee, with the Ancient Advisor acting as tie‑breaker. Vacancies may be filled by presidential appointment until the next meeting.
Finances
Dues vary by membership type. Assets are dedicated to charitable purposes and cannot benefit individuals.
Committees & Meetings
Standing committees oversee camperships, projects, programs, history, plaques, and honors. The Association meets twice yearly with 30‑day notice.
Revising the Bylaws
Bylaws may be amended at the Fall or Spring meeting, with proposed changes provided to members “at least 30 days prior to the vote.” The Statement of Purpose may be clarified or expanded but not altered in intent.
